For both the human and the equine, the brain is not the only place where memories get saved. Cellular Memory, the physical level of a single cell, also records experiences that condition the future.  The Cellular Memory is proven to affect the way a muscle performs and reacts.  When pain presses down memories into the cells, the movement of the muscle is limited and can even cause diseases.

When functioning at an optimum level, information is processed in an integrated fashion throughout the brain. Clear messages are then received and sent from all parts of the body to the brain and back again. This integrated loop process allows clarity of thought, and intentional action. When there is negative Cellular Memory there is separation rather than integration. Different areas fight each other and don't recognize that they are part of the same system.

Massage is a beneficial release, or clearing of Cellular Memories, thus releasing tension, tightness and pain held in the muscle tissue.  Massage therapy also improves lymph and blood flow that removes wastes from the tissue, enhances muscle tone and increases range of motion.
